The Studio Hamburg Group and the British Pinewood Studio Group are forming a joint venture for the production of feature films. A Noerr team, led by the Berlin media lawyer Dr. Ulrich Michel, advised Studio Hamburg on the negotiation and structure of the agreements.
The joint venture is called "Pinewood Studio Berlin Film Services". The target group consists of international film producers. The new venture offers them interesting production possibilities in the film studios of Studio Hamburg, above all in the Berlin facility but also in Babelsberg and Hamburg.
Germany has become more interesting even for major US studios as a production location since the introduction of the Deutschen Filmförderfonds (DFFF) in 2007. Noerr advised the Minister of State of Cultural Affairs on the structuring of the DFFF (cf. press release of 6 Nov. 2006).
The joint venture between Studio Hamburg and Pinewood is the third in the German media industry within three months on which Noerr lawyers have advised. In December 2009, the law firm assisted BBC Worldwide Limited in the formation of "Tower Productions GmbH" and in January 2010 the producers Quirin Berg and Max Wiedemann were advised on the formation of "Wiedemann & Berg Television, member of the Endemol Group".
