Chinese investor takes over the Wilbert Group with the help of Noerr

04.06.2014

With the help of the law firm Noerr, the insolvent Wilbert Group has been rescued. The group, specialised in construction and leasing of cranes, has been taken over by a strategic investor from China, Nanyang Guoyu Seal Development. Nanyang Guoyu relied in the transaction on a Noerr team led by corporate partners Dr. Thorsten Reinhard and Dr. Till Kosche.

The new owner has a long-term view and will continue the entire group. All jobs will be retained. Insolvency Administrator Martin Lambrecht (LEONHARDT RATTUNDE) continued the business of the Wilbert Group based in Rheinland-Palatinate for over one and a half years until the sale. The economic handover already took place on 1 March 2014 and the legal closing took place on 1 June 2014.

Noerr is among the leading law firms in the area of restructuring and distressed M&A and has in recent times dealt inter alia with the successful restructuring of the A.T.U Group, centrotherm photovoltaics AG or the sale of the Frankfurter Rundschau to FAZ. The law firm also has particular expertise in advising Chinese investors and supported for example the Chinese construction machine manufacturer XCMG in its entry into the Schwing Group and Avic Electromechanical Systems on the acquisition of the automotive parts supplier Hilite.
