Noerr advises Activum SG on purchase of Leipzig project developer GRK

11.12.2015

Noerr has again advised Activum SG on a transaction in the German market. Through the holding company Formart Holding B.V., the European real estate fund manager Activum SG has acquired the share majority of the Leipzig-based residential project developer GRK-Holding GmbH.

GRK builds, manages and rents out high-class real estate in Leipzig and the surrounding areas. The main area of expertise of GRK is the development and restoration of historic residential buildings. Last year, Activum purchased formart GmbH & Co. KG, one of Germany’s largest project developers, from HOCHTIEF Solutions AG. Like formart, GRK will continue to operate independently on the market following the takeover. With these two companies, Activum aims at establishing itself as Germany’s leading project developer group in the area of residential real estate.

Activum SG relied on the advice of a Noerr team led by the Berlin partner Felix Blobel. Together with the Düsseldorf Noerr partner Professor Alexander Goepfert, Blobel already advised Activum on the purchase of formart. Besides, Noerr also assisted Activum SG in its recent sale of the Atrium office building complex in Leipzig.

Led by Alexander Goepfert, Noerr LLP’s Real Estate Investment Group (REIG) consists of more than 60 experts from all disciplines of relevance to the real estate industry and with its interdisciplinary collaboration and network has created a service offering which is unique in the real estate sector. Based on this strategic approach, the REIG has been able over the past few years to continuously increase its market share, being the market leader in Germany in 2014 with its participation in four out of the top 10 transactions (source: Thomas Daily).
