Noerr advises Interconnector (UK) Ltd. on participation in European gas trading platform

05.10.2015

Noerr has advised the British company Interconnector (UK) Ltd. (“Interconnector”) on a strategic investment in the European gas market. Interconnector operates a natural gas connection between the UK and continental Europe. With the assistance of a Noerr team led by the Berlin-based partners Dr. Tibor Fedke and Dr. Christoph Spiering, Interconnector has now acquired a strategic interest in the leading gas trading platform Prisma European Capacity Platform GmbH.

By way of a share deal Interconnector is taking over shares of the British transmission network company National Grid. The Leipzig-based trading platform Prisma is a joint capacity platform of more than 30 leading transmission system operators who market transmission capacities to gas dealers. Via the secondary capacity market, gas dealers may also use the platform to sell on transmission capacities not needed by them to other dealers.

Noerr’s team led by Tibor Fedke and Christoph Spiering advised Interconnector on their first investment on the German market. The corporate law experts regularly advise international energy sector corporations on cross-border transactions.
