Noerr advises on takeover of 99pro media by RTL STUDIOS

A Noerr team headed by Munich-based private equity partner Holger H. Ebersberger has advised TV production company 99pro media GmbH on its sale to RTL STUDIOS, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mediengruppe RTL Deutschland. The seller is 99pro Group GmbH.

RTL STUDIOS is taking over the Leipzig, Berlin and Hamburg offices of Leipzig-based 99pro media and its 100 staff effective 1 October 2020. Bernd Schumacher, the founder and managing director 99pro media, will remain with the company as creative director at RTL STUDIOS.

99pro media specialises in docusoaps and documentaries. Popular shows include ‘Zwischen Tüll und Tränen’ (about the search for the perfect wedding dress) and ‘Goodbye Deutschland - Die Auswanderer’ (about people starting a new life abroad) which are broadcast on the TV station VOX. 99pro media is currently developing true crime series for streaming services and documentaries for the public broadcaster ZDF.

The Federal Cartel Office still has to approve the deal.
