Noerr advises petrochemicals group Borealis on acquisition in German market

Noerr is advising the Austrian company Borealis AG on a transaction in the German market. The petrochemicals group has now reported that it has concluded an agreement on the complete takeover of the companies mtm plastics GmbH and mtm compact GmbH, which both specialise in the recycling of plastics. The competition authorities still have to approve the transaction.

mtm plastics is a leader in the technology of recycling post-consumer plastic waste – waste produced by private and commercial consumers. At the same time, the company, which is based in the central German state of Thuringia, is one of the largest manufacturers of post-consumer polyolefin recyclates in Europe.

A team led by Munich partner Dr Florian Becker, co-head of Noerr’s Corporate/M&A practice group, is acting for Borealis, which is one of the market leaders in the European petrochemicals industry with revenues of around €7.7 billion.
