Noerr advises Schwarz Group on acquisition of SUEZ’s waste management operations in Sweden

01.10.2020

With a team headed by Gerald Reger and Maurice Séché, Noerr is advising the Schwarz Group on the market entry of its environmental division PreZero in Sweden. PreZero and SUEZ have signed an agreement on the acquisition of SUEZ’s waste management and recycling operations in Sweden.

With this purchase, PreZero is continuing its growth strategy. Just recently, the two groups agreed on PreZero’s takeover of SUEZ’s waste management and recycling operations in four other European countries (the Netherlands, Germany, Poland and Luxembourg) and on a strategic partnership, with a Noerr team headed by Gerald Reger and Maurice Séché also acting as PreZero’s counsel.

SUEZ has around 1,000 employees in Sweden. Following completion of the two transactions, PreZero will have a combined total of around 11,400 staff in Germany, Poland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Sweden Austria, Italy and the USA.

Subject to antitrust clearance, the Swedish transaction is expected to be completed by the end of 2020.

With Noerr’s support, in 2018 the Schwarz Group took over the fifth largest waste disposal company in Germany, Karl Tönsmeier Entsorgungswirtschaft GmbH & Co. KG, together with its seven Polish subsidiaries. This year Noerr also advised PreZero International GmbH on its acquisition of Polish environmental services provider Komart.
