Noerr advises Scottish Equity Partners on investment in Babbel
The law firm Noerr LLP advised Scottish Equity Partners (SEP) on a further investment in a German growth company. SEP led a USD 22m investment round in Berlin-based company Babbel, which offers the well-known “Babbel” online language courses. Babbel's existing investors Reed Elsevier Ventures, Nokia Growth Partners and VC Fonds Technologie Berlin also participated in the financing round. Noerr acted for SEP with a team led by corporate partner Felix Blobel.
Babbel, which was founded in 2007, is the leading app for language learning with 14 learning languages and up to 120,000 downloads per day. The funds from the financing round will be used for the company's further growth and product development.
A Noerr team led Felix Blobel advised SEP, one of the leading UK venture capital and growth capital investors, already on their investment in the leading online eyewear retailer Mister Spex. Noerr with its Private Equity & Venture Capital Group is a leading law firm for significant buyout transactions and equity financings.
