Noerr advises Stora Enso on strategic sale of the Uetersen paper factory

13.01.2015

The law firm Noerr advised the Finnish/Swedish paper and packaging group Stora Enso on the sale of its special paper factory in Uetersen (Schleswig-Holstein). The purchase of the production facility is a company of the Private Equity investor Perusa Partners Fund 2. The purchase price agreed in mid-December 2014 of approx. 7 million is composed of cash free/debt free adjustments.

The Uetersen facility specialises in particular on the production of special papers for labels and flexible packaging. Approx. 400 employees produce in Uetersen approx. 240,000 tons of paper annually. The turnover in 2013 was 155 million Euro. The transaction is part of the restructuring of Stora Enso to become a provider of renewable materials. Stora Enso will continue to produce special and fine papers in Finland.

The closing of the transaction is planned for the first quarter 2015. The approval of the regulatory authorities is still outstanding.
