Noerr advises Talanx on next-generation sourcing to IBM

07.12.2015

Noerr has advised Talanx Systeme AG comprehensively on its next-generation IT sourcing to IBM Deutschland GmbH. A team led by the Munich partner and IT law specialist Dr. Thomas Thalhofer dealt with this complex case.

The internal IT service provider of the third-largest German insurance group Talanx will rely in the future on a flexible hybrid cloud environment, giving up the operation of its own data centres for the benefit of a “platform as a service” model of IBM in the coming years. IBM is providing Talanx with what is known as an “enterprise private cloud” solution. Noerr has provided comprehensive advice to Talanx Systeme AG on drafting and negotiating contracts as well as settling employment law and data protection law issues in connection with the IT sourcing. A major focus of the advice was on drafting the contracts covering this sophisticated new technology of hybrid cloud environment.

As in several transactions in previous years, the Talanx group has relied on Noerr’s market-leading expertise in the area of IT outsourcing also in this important infrastructure project. Numerous notable companies and groups have recently sought Noerr’s advice in their IT outsourcing projects, including Finanz Informatik, which is the IT service provider of the Sparkassen, and the German healthcare fund for postal workers.

In IT law Noerr is among the leading international law firms. This year, Noerr has already advised, amongst others, Deutsche Telekom AG on the sale of the online platform t-online.de and the Swedish QMATIC on a strategic takeover on the German market.
