Noerr advises Verlagsgruppe Passau on takeover of Mittelbayerische Zeitung

Noerr has advised the Verlagsgruppe Passau media group on its takeover of the publisher Mittelbayerischer Verlag. The transaction is subject to clearance by the antitrust authority.

With the acquisition of Regensburg-headquartered Mittelbayerischer Verlag and the daily Mittelbayerische Zeitung published by it, Verlagsgruppe Passau has grown into one of the highest-circulation regional newspaper publishers in Bavaria. Together, the daily newspapers Passauer Neue Presse, Donaukurier and Mittelbayerische Zeitung achieve a daily average paid circulation of around 350,000 copies.

Verlagsgruppe Passau regularly relies on legal advice from Noerr, such as for its acquisition of the Donaukurier Verlagsgruppe publishing group and also recently for the sale of its Polish publishing operations.
