19.04.2022

With a team led by our Munich-based private equity partner Christoph Thiermann, Noerr advised VIA equity Fund III and the other co-shareholders on the sale of their stake in the SEMA Group to Bregal Unternehmerkapital (BU), as well as VIA equity Fund IV on a re-investment.

The previous shareholders of SEMA Software, the Danish IT investor VIA equity, the German technology investor LEA Partners and SEMA Software’s CEO, Alexander Neuss, have sold their stake in SEMA Software to Bregal Unternehmerkapital.

Established in 1984 and based in Wildpoldsried (Bavaria), SEMA Software GmbH offers software solutions and complementary services in the timber construction, staircase construction and sheet metal processing industries and is a specialist in leading European CAD/CAM software solutions in the field of timber construction and prefabricated buildings.

Noerr partner Christoph Thiermann regularly acts for Via Equity, most recently in connection with its acquisition of etiscan Identifikationssysteme GmbH. VIA Equity is a leading Northern European private equity firm that invests in small to mid-sized companies with revenues ranging from €10 to €100 million and, together with co-investors and other funds, also in significantly larger companies. VIA equity’s investment focus is on a broad definition of business models for software and technology-enabled services.

LEA Partners GmbH, with currently €460 million in commitments, supports founders and management teams in various stages of development as an entrepreneurial equity partner in their growth and achievement of a leading market position. Headquartered in Karlsruhe, one of the largest technology clusters in Europe, LEA has managed investments in numerous technology companies since 2002.

Bregal Unternehmerkapital (BU) is part of a family business that has grown over several generations. The BU funds invest in European mid-cap companies across a wide range of sectors, with a focus on market leaders and hidden champions with strong management teams and breakout potential.
