Noerr again advises Swisspower Renewables on purchase of wind farm

02.06.2014

The law firm Noerr has again advised the Swisspower Group on the purchase of a wind farm portfolio. A German subsidiary of Swisspower Renewables AG takes over the four independent wind farms in Germany from wpd onshore GmbH & Co. KG in a share deal between a number of project companies and an interim holding.

The wind farms in Saarland, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Saxony and Lower Saxony have a total capacity of 29.3 megawatt and produce with 11 plants approx. 74 million kilowatt hours of electricity annually – enough to supply energy for 15,000 households. Swisspower thereby increases its total capacity from wind farms in Germany to 390 million kilowatt hours.

Noerr regularly advises Swisspower Renewables AG – a company of at present 11 Swiss municipal suppliers – and its subsidiaries on investments in renewable energy projects including the acquisition of a wind farm in Hof and the market entry into Germany. Noerr and Swisspower also cooperate in current corporate law advice, litigation and labour law. Apart from Swisspowenr, may international energy suppliers such as EDF or Iberdrola and investors and banks rely in major projects on the advice of Noerr and of the  Noerr Energy Group.

The transaction has already been completed.
