Noerr gains compliance expert Stefan Gebauer as Of Counsel

02.11.2016

Noerr has recruited the compliance expert Dr Stefan Gebauer as Of Counsel effective 1 November. Gebauer comes to Noerr from Vereinigung Baden-Württembergische Wertpapierbörse e.V., the parent company of the Börse Stuttgart Group, where he was Head of Investment Controlling and Group Compliance. Gebauer will boost the Compliance & Investigations Practice Group at our Frankfurt office.

“Stefan Gebauer will be adding his expertise to the compliance advisory services we offer in the areas of financial market regulation and capital markets law,” emphasises Dr Torsten Fett, who heads the Practice Group. In the area of regulation, Gebauer will be working closely with the Frankfurt partner Dr Jens H. Kunz, a leading advisor on regulatory issues in the finance industry in particular. Together with Dr Laurenz Wieneke, who is also a partner at our Frankfurt office, our new Of Counsel will be available to handle capital markets compliance issues.

Stefan Gebauer had worked for the Börse Stuttgart Group since the end of 2012. During his career he also worked for dwpbank (Head of Legal), WestLB (Division Manager Group Compliance) and Deutsche Bank (positions included Deputy Head of Compliance Germany, Central and Eastern Europe).

Noerr bundles central compliance issues in the Compliance & Investigations Practice Group. The Group has more than 40 lawyers, tax advisors and auditors across several locations who offer clients preventative advice on the establishment and improvement of compliance systems. The Practice Group also carries out internal investigations and provides advice and support with respect to white-collar crime issues. Noerr is one of the leading law firms in the area of compliance and is ranked number one in the Kanzleimonitor 2015/2016, for example. This empirical study is prepared annually by the corporate counsel association Bundesverband der Unternehmensjuristen (BUJ) and is based on the recommendations of in-house counsel.
