Noerr makes holidays in Austria possible for 200 children and young people

A project which is unique among law firms is entering its eighth round this summer with the Noerr KinderCamp opening its doors again on 9 July. This year as well, around 200 socially disadvantaged children and young people are being invited by Noerr to spend a week’s holiday in Austria.

The Noerr KinderCamp is located directly on the shores of Lake Fuschl in Austria’s Salzkammergut region. It consists of several weatherproof, wooden caravans with space for up to 32 children and young people. What is particularly unique about the Noerr KinderCamp is that more than 450 lawyers built the caravans with their own hands in 2011. Noerr has since then organised the KinderCamp every summer and makes it possible for socially disadvantaged children and young people from Germany, Austria and Romania to have a care-free week’s holiday. The overall costs are assumed by the firm’s partners and donors.

“This KinderCamp is certainly unique among law firms,” says Tobias Bürgers, the firm’s Co-Speaker. “It is not just a CSR project, but something which is very close to our hearts.” Tobias Bürgers himself was involved in building the caravans, as was Co-Speaker Alexander Ritvay, who emphasises the following: “We are very happy that our KinderCamp is still very much in demand in its eighth year and that many children and young people will be able to spend their holidays there in the coming weeks.”

Since its inception in 2011, over 1,800 children and young people have spent a week’s holiday at the Noerr KinderCamp. They are taken care of by non-profit organisations from Germany and Eastern Europe that accompany them to the KinderCamp. Noerr also provides the groups with an education professional. The objective is that the children and young people take home impulses for their future life based on the positive experiences they have during the active and sustainable leisure activities they participate in. This year the children’s homes Pauline von Mallinckrodt (Siegburg) and Benshausen (Thuringia), as well as the Dresden Children’s Association, the Kinderzukunft Foundation (Gelnhausen/Timisoara, Romania) and the Waldoni Foundation (Darmstadt) will be having a week’s holiday there. This year’s educational programme once again focuses on the motto of the Noerr KinderCamp: “Forest, meadow, water – experiencing, shaping and understanding nature.”

The KinderCamp season was opened last week with the Tölzer Boys’ Choir. “Members of the choir are using the time to relax away from concerts and get to know each other better by participating in joint nature and sporting activities,” says Noerr’s Gerlinde Brenner who is once again in charge of organisation and is point person at Noerr during the 2018 KinderCamp season for all requests and questions of the children’s organisations and of course the holiday guests as well.
