23.01.2020

In 2019, Noerr is again the front-runner among M&A firms in the German-speaking area (DACH). With 63 completed M&A transactions, Noerr has again taken first place in the Mergermarket ranking for the DACH region as market leader in M&A, as it did in 2018. “Noerr continued its reign at the top,” was Mergermarket’s judgement.

Of the 63 transactions, the M&A teams of Noerr's Corporate/M&A, Capital Markets and Private Equity practice groups advised on a total of 34 on the buyer side and 28 on the seller side. The majority of the transactions (34) was cross-border. The top deals advised on by Noerr in the region included:

  • 5 transactions for Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. (KKR) regarding the creation of the new media platform Leonine in Germany

  • Comdirect on a public purchase offer by Commerzbank

  • Apollo Global Management on the sale of its pan-European Maximus portfolio

  • Fosun International on the takeover of Tom Tailor Holding

  • KATHREIN on the sale of its global antenna business to Ericsson

  • Thomas Cook Group on the sale of its divisions

  • Hitachi Capital on the takeover of the group Maske

  • Eli Global on the sale of finanzen.de to Allianz X

  • Emeram Capital on its investment in ]init[ AG

  • Volkswagen Financial Services AG on its acquisition of LogPay

In the German annual rankings of Bloomberg, Mergermarket and Refinitiv (Thomson Reuters), Noerr is also consistently among the top 2 (completed deals), once again underlining its leading position in the field of M&A.

In addition, the Noerr lawyers Christoph Thiermann, Georg Schneider and Robert Korndörfer are among the top 5 advisors in terms of the number of transactions advised on in the DACH region. This is the result of Mergermarket statistics. In the German M&A market, the three Noerr lawyers occupy the top three places, with Noerr partners Holger Ebersberger and Florian Becker also represented in the top 10.

Noerr is one the leading firms for Corporate/M&A with its practice group headed by Florian Becker (Munich) and Alexander Hirsch (Düsseldorf). It focuses on providing advice on national and cross-border transactions, their financing, public takeovers, complex company and group structuring issues and the reorganisation and restructuring of companies.
