As an industrial lawyer, Prof. Thomas Klindt has extensive experience in dealing with product liability crisis scenarios and has acted in many crossborder b2b and b2c product recalls including mandatory notifications to market surveillance authorities. He lectures in European Product and Technology Law at the universities of Kassel and Bayreuth, serves as an overseas correspondent of the Australian Product Liability Reporter (APLR) and is also Global Chair of the Product Liability and Product Safety Practice Group of the international law firm network, Lex Mundi.
He is co-editor of Zeitschrift für Stoffrecht (StoffR), Germany's leading magazine for the law of hazardous substances. He is a member of the editorial advisory board of Zeitschrift zum Innovations- und Technikrecht (InTeR), the magazine for innovation and technology law; Zeitschrift Recht Automobil Wirtschaft (RAW), the magazine for law and the automobile industry; and Zeitschrift maschinenrichtlinie aktuell (mrl), the magazine for machine engineering norms in connection with the machinery directive. He also belongs to the Academic Board for consumer law of the University of Bayreuth.
Prof. Thomas Klindt is (alongside Dr. Torsten Fett) co-chairman of the annual Compliance Day and co-editor of Zeitschrift für Corporate Compliance (CCZ), Germany’s leading law magazine for compliance issues. He has also published on many aspects of compliance. Prof Klindt was named European Legal Innovator of the Year 2008 by the Financial Times Innovative Lawyers Awards 2008 because, as the jury stated “he has contributed to changing the attitude to compliance in Germany”. He is also head of the area Legal Crisis Management.
