cup of coffee with heart

We are delighted to invite you to the next edition of the Brussels Trade Café on 25 November 2026.

While the political debate in Brussels has shifted towards competitiveness, simplification and defence, Europe’s green trade instruments have quietly entered their enforcement phase. Our panelists will examine what this means in practice for companies.

We will take a closer look at the upcoming application of the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) on 30 December 2026 and the lessons learned from dry runs and pilot inspections, as well as the definitive phase of the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), including authorisation requirements, the first surrender of certificates in 2027 and the first enforcement actions by national authorities.

Panelists:

  • Josephine Norris, Member of Legal Service at the European Commission; Adjunct Professor VUB
  • Arun Kapoor, Head of Product Regulation and Product Liability,  Partner at Noerr Munich
  • Hosuk Lee-Makiyama, Director of European Centre for International Political Economy (ECIPE), Senior Fellow LSE
  • Alexander Rhetz, Head of Quality & Compliance Management at Otto Group

Moderator:
Rohan Sinha, Trade Lawyer at Noerr Brussels.

Jens Peter Schmidt, Managing Partner, Noerr Brussels, will give an opening address, followed by a Key Note from Tobias Zuber, Head of Trade Brussels at Noerr.

As before, our barista Arnaud and his team will serve freshly brewed coffee, matcha, and sweet treats. In this informal setting, our panelists will share their insights, followed by an interactive Q&A session with the audience and for those interested, a glass of wine afterwards.
