Antitrust & Competition: Till Steinvorth to move to Noerr

Noerr is continuing to expand its Hamburg office by taking on a distinguished antitrust and competition law expert: from 1 April, Till Steinvorth will be joining Noerr’s Hamburg office as a partner. He was previously at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe, where he headed the firm’s German antitrust department from their Düsseldorf office.

With this addition, Noerr is strengthening its antitrust expertise at its Hamburg office. “Till Steinvorth is the ideal expert to boost our dynamic antitrust and competition practice. Together with Till, we intend to broaden our antitrust and competition law services even further and to promote cooperation between our various offices, especially in large-scale projects,” says Fabian Badtke, who heads Noerr’s Antitrust & Competition practice group. Despite his move to Hamburg, Till Steinvorth will continue to be present in Düsseldorf. In Hamburg he will work with Karsten Metzlaff, an antitrust partner who is based in the northern German city and is one of the leading European experts in distribution-related antitrust and competition law.

Till Steinvorth advises clients on all aspects of German and European competition law, notably in merger control, cartel investigations and enforcing or defending against cartel damages claims. He also has extensive experience in the fields of compliance programmes and investment reviews under foreign trade law. “Noerr is a law firm that is seeing impressive growth and won me over with its outstandingly high quality standards. The Antitrust & Competition practice is one of the leading practices of its kind in Germany,” says Till Steinvorth. “I’m very much looking forward to working with my new colleagues.”

The entry of Till Steinvorth marks the practice group’s second prominent new lateral hire this year. On 15 February, the renowned antitrust expert Jens Peter Schmidt joined Noerr’s Brussels office as a partner and heads the office jointly with Dominik Wendel.

The strategic growth of Noerr’s Hamburg office is progressing according to plan. With Till Steinvorth, a total of 37 lawyers will work for Noerr in Hamburg from April, including nine partners and four associated partners. Noerr opened the office, which is led by Volker Land and Christoph Spiering, on 1 April 2017. “We have almost doubled the number of advisors in three years,” says Christoph Spiering, underlining that the Hamburg office offers practically the entire range of services covered by Noerr. “This distinguishes us from many of our competitors in Hamburg.” Christoph Spiering has announced a continuation of his office’s growth and more hires in the immediate future.
