Michael Hawkins

Michael is a solicitor and European trade mark attorney. His practice covers global trade mark and design portfolio management, providing strategy and advice to clients for the protection and enforcement of their intellectual property, as well as IP agreements and disputes. Michael has particular expertise in EU trade marks and designs, as well as proceedings before the EU Intellectual Property Office and the European Union courts in Luxembourg. Michael regularly speaks, publishes and teaches on trade mark and design-related issues, including in the EU trade marks and designs modules of the University of Alicante’s IP Master Program. Michael is an active member of the International Trademark Association (INTA), serving on its Board of Directors from 2019-2021 and on numerous other committees and task forces. Michael is also a member of the IP Committee of the Law Society of England & Wales. Through Michael’s involvement in these associations, he played an active role in the European Union trade mark law reforms in 2015, and the European Union design law reforms in 2024. He regularly contributes to changes in law and regulation affecting trade mark and design issues in the European Union and further afield. Michael is passionate about DEI issues. He is a member of Noerr's Diversity Committee and is one of the partners responsible for Diversity within the firm.
