Noerr advises US media company A+E on complete takeover of its German joint venture with NBCUniversal

01.06.2017

Noerr has advised US media company A+E Networks on the takeover of NBCUniversal’s share in the company A+E Networks Deutschland, which it has up to now run jointly with NBCUniversal. A+E Networks and NBCUniversal originally founded the successful German joint venture company twelve years ago.

A+E Networks Deutschland runs the television channels HISTORY and A+E in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Lichtenstein and South Tyrol. The takeover reinforces A+E Networks’ international strategy to take a greater ownership position in its ventures around the world.

The transaction still requires clearance by the cartel and media authorities.

A Noerr team led by Munich partner and media law expert Prof. Johannes Kreile acted for A+E. Noerr had already advised the media company, which is headquartered in New York, in 2005 when the joint venture was formed. Kreile and company law expert Dr Gerald Reger were also both involved at the time.
