Dr Stephan Zündorf awarded Noerr-funded dissertation prize at Bucerius Law School

In his doctoral thesis entitled “The Restructuring Decision” (“Die Sanierungsentscheidung”), Dr Zündorf examines the law and economics foundations of collective decision-making and value distribution in corporate restructuring law. The dissertation was supervised by Professor Carsten Jungmann, for whom Dr Zündorf worked as a research assistant at Bucerius Law School during his doctoral studies.
The prize was presented by Simone Schönen, a partner at Noerr’s Hamburg office, during Bucerius Law School’s academic ceremony for the class of 2025. The laudation was delivered by Professor Christian Bumke, holder of the Commerzbank Foundation Chair for Fundamentals of Law, who commented: “Stephan Zündorf’s work, in the truest sense, marks a real advance in academic discourse. With careful clarity, it challenges established assumptions and, at the same time, pioneers new scholarly approaches.”
Simone Schönen emphasised, “By funding the dissertation prize, we as a law firm aim to encourage young talents to engage deeply with legal topics – with clarity, rigour and the courage to assert their own position.”
