Besides directly exporting products and services or working with local agents and distributors, businesses may pursue an enhanced internationalisation strategy by establishing foreign subsidiaries, acquiring equity interests in foreign companies or forming joint ventures with international partners.
Traditionally, as a consequence of the incorporation of foreign subsidiaries, companies are confronted with the strategic decision of relocating managers and/or executive officers abroad. This is confirmed, for instance, by the increasing number of work permits and visas issued by Brazilian authorities to German citizens relocating to Brazil.
