Noerr advises Dieter Schwarz Stiftung gGmbH on cooperation with ETH Zurich

17.12.2025

A team from Noerr led by Gerald Reger and Susanne Rummel has provided legal advice to Dieter Schwarz Stiftung gGmbH on the long-term funding of ETH Zurich.

The renowned Swiss university of excellence is to gradually establish 15 professorships dedicated to “responsible digital transformation” in Heilbronn. The focus will be on data science, artificial intelligence (AI) and cybersecurity. In addition to the professorships in Heilbronn, the funding will also cover the construction of new university buildings on the university campus in Heilbronn and professorships in Zurich.

This year, ETH Zürich Campus Heilbronn gGmbH has already commenced its operations and the architectural competition for the new buildings has already been decided. With the final signing of the contract, the project can now officially commence. The first professors are expected to begin their research in 2026.

Education, science and innovation are of crucial significance for the country’s development. Dieter Schwarz Stiftung gGmbH has therefore set itself the goal of building on these pillars and promoting lifelong learning. Current priorities include the campus in Heilbronn, development of the Innovation Park Artificial Intelligence (IPAI) and the experimenta science centre.

Dieter Schwarz Stiftung gGmbH and Noerr have been working together for many years. In the past, teams led by Gerald Reger and Susanne Rummel have advised Dieter Schwarz Stiftung gGmbH on the long-term funding of Max-Planck-Gesellschaft zur Förderung der Wissenschaft e.V., on the long-term funding of the establishment and expansion of the campus of TU Munich in Heilbronn as well as on the funding of professorships at TU Munich in Heilbronn and at the university’s sites in Munich and Garching.
