German government appoints Noerr partner Barbara Maucher as conciliator at World Bank’s dispute settlement organisation ICSID
The German federal government has once again appointed a partner from Noerr, Barbara Maucher, as a conciliator to the Panel of Conciliators of the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID). This makes her a member of a group of just four recognised experts with years of practical experience in this field who were designated by the Federal Republic of Germany.
ICSID, which belongs to the World Bank Group and is based in Washington, is considered the most important institution in investment arbitration. ICSID provides a neutral forum for resolving disputes between states and foreign investors under bilateral and multilateral investment treaties by conciliation, arbitration or fact-finding. ICSID has administered the majority of all international investment cases. The members of the Panel of Conciliators are available to be called on as conciliators, arbitrators and members of ad-hoc committees.
Barbara Maucher is admitted to practice in both the United States and Germany and acts for U.S. and German clients in cross-border matters. She specialises in representing clients from the energy and finance sectors in arbitration proceedings involving commercial and investment disputes. Barbara Maucher is a member of Noerr’s arbitration practice group headed by Anke Meier. The team, which consists of some 20 lawyers, is regarded as a top-tier team in arbitration.
Noerr is one of the leading law firms in litigation and arbitration. More than 120 lawyers advise and represent clients in all kinds of dispute resolution – before state courts and in cross-border matters involving several jurisdictions, arbitral proceedings and alternative dispute resolution proceedings (ADR).
