Noerr strengthens employment law compliance and digital advising with Michael Kalbfus

16.06.2020

The law firm Noerr is expanding its employment-law advisory services in high-end compliance engagements as well as in IT and data protection by attracting Michael Kalbfus as a new Associated Partner. Michael comes from Baker McKenzie and will join the team at Noerr’s Munich office as of 1 July.

A main focus of the new Associated Partner’s work is on large and international compliance projects. “With his excellent experience in coordinating and handling international compliance projects – for example involving temporary employees – Michael fits perfectly into our team,” says Dr Andreas Butz, who leads Noerr’s Employment & Pensions practice group. The practice group is a market leader and in the field of compliance it works closely with the experts in the Compliance & Internal Investigations practice group, not only on preventative compliance advice under employment law, but also on internal investigations.

A second focus of his work is on providing employment-law advice where it interfaces with IT and data protection law. “This results in a multitude of opportunities for collaboration, particularly with our Digital Business practice group,” Andreas emphasises. Michael, 38, has also had experience in providing employment-law advice in the context of national and international M&A transactions.

Michael is looking forward to working with his new colleagues and emphasises: “Employment law has an excellent position at Noerr, and the team led by Andreas Butz very successfully integrates compliance, IT and data protection into its advisory practice.”

Noerr has one of the largest employment-law practice groups in Germany, with an excellent client portfolio. For example, just recently, the firm’s employment-law experts were involved in another rescue of Condor Flugdienst GmbH in which the state-owned bank KfW provided the company with a second state-guaranteed rescue loan worth €550 million. Noerr was also involved in the employment-law aspects of the previous restructuring of the airline.
