Noerr advises Cisalfa Sport SpA on acquiring insolvent company SportScheck

13.03.2024

A Noerr team led by Dorothée Prosteder, Alexander Hirsch and Maurice Séché has advised Cisalfa Sport S.p.A on acquiring insolvent company SportScheck GmbH. Cisalfa Sport, Italy’s largest sports retailer, is taking over the omni-channel company SportScheck after submitting the successful bid in a competitive international tender process.

SportScheck operates over 30 stores and maintains an online presence in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The company had filed for insolvency following the insolvency of its parent company, Signa Holding GmbH. Cisalfa Sport, with a network of more than 140 sports stores in Italy, has been present in the German market since its acquisition of INTERSPORT Voswinkel at the end of 2023. The acquisitions of INTERSPORT Voswinkel and SportScheck are part of the company’s growth strategy.

A team led by Alexander Hirsch and Maurice Séché had previously advised Cisalfa Sport on its acquisition of INTERSPORT Voswinkel.

As with the INTERSPORT VOSWINKEL acquisition, Noerr worked on the transaction with a team from the Italian law firm Legance, led by Giandomenico Ciaramella and Sven von Mensenkampff.

The transaction still requires clearance from the competition authorities and is expected to be finalised by the end of June 2024.
