Juve Awards 2020 – Noerr is best law firm for insolvency and restructuring

30.10.2020

Noerr is ‘Law firm of the Year for Insolvency and Restructuring’ and ‘Law Firm of the Year Region North’. The awards were presented last night by the industry magazine Juve.

Noerr’s ‘Restructuring & Insolvency’ practice has systematically strengthened its leading position in recent years and advises on nearly all major corporate insolvencies and restructurings. These include the insolvencies of Wirecard AG and Thomas Cook, as well as the successful reorganisation of the airline Condor in ‘protective shield proceedings’. Juve emphasises that ‘All these successes are the fruits of a strategic vision.’

Even before the coronavirus outbreak, the firm’s restructuring experts were seeing a strong increase in demand, especially in their core advisory areas of classic insolvency law in the context of corporate reorganisations and distressed transactions. In 2019, the practice was further strengthened by the lateral hiring of two renowned reorganisation experts, Simone Schönen in Hamburg and Dorothee Prosteder in Munich. The practice, which is headed by Thomas Hoffmann and Martin Kleinschmitt, specialises in complex reorganisation solutions, both in and out of court. The team advises creditors/creditor groups and investors on corporate reorganisation, as well as debtor companies and their corporate bodies. The spectrum of services is complemented by operational and business restructuring offered by Noerr Consulting AG and by reorganisation trusteeships provided by TEAM Treuhand GmbH.

With an additional award in the category ‘Law Firm of the Year Region North’, Juve is honouring to the successful establishment and expansion of Noerr’s Hamburg office, which is headed by Volker Land and Christoph Spiering. The office, which was only opened in 2017, has for example advised on the takeover of HSH Nordbank by Noerr client and private equity investor J.C. Flowers. Also, the Bauer Media Group regularly relies on Noerr Hamburg’s advice for its German and international M&A transactions.
