Noerr advises on sale of Thomas Cook’s travel agencies and e-commerce platform to Galeria Karstadt Kaufhof

Noerr has advised the provisional insolvency administrators of Thomas Cook GmbH on the sale of its 106 travel agencies and “Golden Gate” e-commerce platform to Galeria Karstadt Kaufhof. A team led by Munich-based partner Florian Becker acted for the clients.

The provisional insolvency administrators Julia Kappel-Gnirs, Ottmar Hermann and Fabio Algari (hww hermann wienberg wilhelm) have reached agreement on the sale of the business units with the negotiators of Galeria Karstadt Kaufhof. The takeover will secure the jobs of over 500 employees working in the travel agencies concerned and for the e-commerce platform. The acquisition is subject to approval by the creditors’ committee and clearance by antitrust authorities.
