Noerr strengthens arbitration practice with Laura Yvonne Zielinski and boosts space law expertise

Noerr further strengthens its leading position in the field of international arbitration. On 1 April, Laura Yvonne Zielinski will be joining the practice group headed by Anke Meier as an associated partner. Her practice focuses on international investor-state arbitration and commercial arbitration, particularly in relation to markets in Latin America. Besides this, she has extensive international expertise in space law.

Laura Yvonne ZielinskiLaura, who has more than ten years of experience in international arbitration, acts for clients in the aerospace, telecommunications, infrastructure and construction industries. The new associated partner, who is admitted to practice in Paris, New York and Mexico, most recently worked as senior counsel at U.S. law firm Holland & Knight in Mexico City; she is vice-chair of the Space Law Committee of the International Bar Association (IBA) and founder and president of the Space Arbitration Association. She earned her doctorate at the Institute for Air Law, Space Law and Cyber Law at the University of Cologne.

“The need for advice on complex international disputes grows rapidly, not only due to the current global economic and political situation,” says Anke. “We are seeing increasing demand from companies and states for representation in complex disputes, especially in the areas of defence and space law, and are delighted to be able to strengthen our team with a versed expert in this field.”

Laura will also be working closely with Bärbel Sachs, who heads one of Europe’s leading foreign trade law teams at Noerr. “The defence sector is currently undergoing major changes. Europe and Germany have a lot of catching up to do when it comes to space”, says Bärbel. “Laura Yvonne Zielinski’s expertise in this area will significantly expand our range of services in a sector where demand is high.”
