Highlight: EU Energy Policy

The EC is working on the presentation of the Energy Union Framework Strategy, scheduled for 25 February. Fourteen Commissioners are actively involved in the preparation of the holistic package. At the same time, the Energy Ministers of the 28 Member States together with representatives from EU institutions and international organisations met in Latvia to launch the so called Riga Process. Key topics of the debate around the Energy Union include diversifying energy sources, reducing energy demand, lowering greenhouse gas emissions and implementing the internal energy market.
