The European Commission kicked off the Capital Markets Union (CMU) Project launching three consultations on building a single market for capital, on the Prospectus Directive and on High-Quality Securitisation.

One of the priorities of this project is to stimulate growth and investment and with the CMU Project the College of Commissioners intends to create more integrated capital markets while diversifying financing sources.

The project includes a series of short-term and medium-term measures and further initiatives will be launched in the coming months in order to explore ways of reducing fragmentation in financial markets and strengthening cross border capital flows.

For the Summer, an Action Plan including a roadmap and timeline is expected to be made public.
