“What does the German Public Procurement Acceleration Act mean for planning and design consultancies?” – interview in competitionline on 1 June 2026
On 1 July 2026, the German Public Procurement Acceleration Act (Vergabebeschleunigungsgesetz) is set to come into force, through which the German government seeks to make tenders simpler and more flexible and to speed up public procurement processes. The Act includes exemptions from the principle of dividing contracts into partial and trade-specific lots, simplified requirements for proof of suitability and evaluation procedures, support for newly established and innovative companies, and significant reductions in effective primary legal protection.
Our experienced public procurement experts Salomo Ortega Sawal and Carsten Bringmann gave a detailed expert interview for competitionline, the leading platform for tenders in the planning and design sector, on the question “What does the German Public Procurement Acceleration Act mean for planning and design consultancies?” They provided an in-depth analysis of the recently adopted Public Procurement Acceleration Act and explained its legal and business implications for the planning and design sector.
During the interview, our advisors look at many aspects that will be relevant in the future, ranging from deviations from the principle of division into partial and trade-specific lots, and the regulatory elements intended to support young and innovative firms to the wide-ranging and critically viewed amendments to review procedures and a referral by the procurement review board at Dusseldorf Higher Regional Court which is currently pending before the Federal Constitutional Court.
In this interview, you will learn:
- what potential business opportunities arise from the steps to increase flexibility and simplify procedures introduced by the Public Procurement Acceleration Act,
- what measures can be taken to address economic challenges in an efficient and tailored manner, and
- how you can best adapt to the significant reductions in effective primary legal protection.
